Always one step ahead

770cm long, 240cm wide, and 240cm high: the components of a packaging machine line are not only bulky, but also incredibly heavy, weighing in at a total of 35,000 kilograms. But at Skyline Express, we love a challenge, and we found the right solution for this project as well. This followed months of planning, during which we coordinated with the client – ​​a well-known mechanical engineering company from East Westphalia-Lippe (OWL) – and clarified all the necessary customs paperwork and other formalities. The packaging machine itself also had to be professionally dismantled and prepared for shipping.

Then the moment arrived: The goods were picked up from the customer using our cranes and four trucks from our Skyline freight forwarding company, which transported the cargo safely and on schedule to the destination airports. Once there, the packages were loaded for flight to the USA. Special nose-loading aircraft, such as the Boeing 747-400F, were used. The advantage: These aircraft models have a hinged nose at the front, allowing the entire forward section of the aircraft to be raised. This creates exceptionally large access to the cargo hold. This way, even extremely bulky goods that don’t fit through the side cargo doors can be loaded. Another advantage is the reinforced cargo hold, equipped with rails and rollers, in which heavy goods can be transported and moved safely. All in all, a project that required a great deal of logistical expertise and, precisely for that reason, was a lot of fun for us!
