What is SAF?
SAF stands for “Sustainable Aviation Fuel” and is currently the only environmentally friendly alternative to conventional aviation fuel. Air traffic currently generates 2-3% of global CO2 emissions. Using SAF reduces these emissions by up to 85% compared to conventional fuels! SAF-certified fuels must meet strict criteria. For example, they must not have a negative impact on biodiversity or use raw materials suitable for food production. Due to currently limited production capacity, the price is about three times higher than conventional fuels. KLM and Air France are in the process of completing new, independently managed production facilities by 2023.
The goal of the airlines, together with partners like Skyline Express, their customers, and the global public, is to increase awareness and adoption of this sustainable fuel alternative. Actively support us in this endeavor for our shared future!
The UN Climate Change Conference is being held in Glasgow.
Since many years Skyline Express is conscious of its responsibility for our planet and consequently supports sustainable and ecological driven projects. Logically Skyline Express is the first air freight forwarder who joined the partnership with Air France/KLM’s Corporate SAF Program.
What is SAF?
SAF stands for “Sustainable Aviation Fuel” and is a cleaner substitute for conventional jet fuel. This alternative fuel represents a solution that has been developed to reduce the impact of aviation on the environment. The aviation sector currently accounts for 2 to 3% of global CO2 emissions produced by human activity. SAF represents an alternative fuel for aviation and is currently the only viable drop-in alternative to fossil liquid fuels for powering commercial aircraft. SAF reduces CO2 emissions by up to 85%, when compared to conventional jet fuel! SAF must meet stringent sustainability criteria to qualify as “sustainable” aviation fuel: substantial reduction in CO2 emissions, materials whose use would not have a negative impact on biodiversity or be in competition with needed food production. Due to low production capacities SAF currently costs two to three times as much as fossil fuel. KLM and Air France are building a fully SAF-dedicated plant to produce its own SAF, scheduled to open in 2023. Objective of the airlines today is to raise awareness within their partners like Skyline Express, customers and towards the general public as well, to increase the use of SAF through our daily operations.
We hope for your active support for our joined future!
