Supply bottlenecks, pandemics, and the war in Ukraine: The logistics sector is constantly facing new challenges. At the same time, customer demands are growing, with customers worldwide relying on efficient and high-quality logistics solutions. “Until now, we have coordinated transport through German and international partners,” explains Volker Sim, founder and CEO of Skyline Express. At least in land transport, this is about to change, because: “Compliance with legal requirements worldwide and the shortage of qualified drivers and carriers should not affect the quality of our transport services. On the contrary: We want to offer our customers even more customized solutions and true independence from external service providers.”
Logistics from Lippe: A clear statement for the region
With GLASLINE LOGISTIK, they have now found a transport company that meets their own high standards and perfectly complements Skyline Express’s service portfolio. “Lippe is our home and will remain so in the future,” says Volker Sim. “I am all the more pleased that GLASLINE LOGISTIK, like us, is rooted in the region.” Founded in Detmold in 2020, GLASLINE LOGISTIK has specialized in glass transport to date.
The company’s fleet is entirely modern and will take on new tasks in the future, such as distribution in East Westphalia-Lippe and the handling of long goods. “Skyline Express has an excellent network extending far beyond the region,” emphasizes Ingo Schultheis-Gold, Chief Operating Officer of GLASLINE LOGISTIK. The investment therefore makes sense from a long-term economic perspective, as challenges such as the shortage of skilled workers can only be solved together. Going forward, the company will operate under the name Skyline Logistik GmbH. The company headquarters will remain in Detmold. “With this investment and the rebranding, we are taking an important step toward a shared future,” says Ingo Schultheis-Gold. “Our young team is looking forward to becoming part of the Skyline family and growing together.”
About the Skyline Group
Founded in Lage, Lippe, in 2000, Skyline Express has developed into a specialist for demanding transport solutions. Project cargo handling is just as much a part of the company’s service portfolio as customs clearance, warehousing and order picking, or dangerous goods management – by air, sea, or land. In addition to predominantly medium-sized companies, well-known corporations such as Lufthansa and Hapag-Lloyd AG are also business partners who rely on the experience and expertise of the 49-member team. In East Westphalia-Lippe, the Skyline Group currently owns approximately 20,000 square meters of logistics space and has an additional 10,000 square meters of land available for further expansion in the region.
